Stewardship
Stewardship
- a letter from
Father John+.
Stewardship is most essentially what we do with our lives.
It is pretty simple really - the giving of our lives in response to the
ultimate gift of God, his son Jesus the Christ. Stewardship is about
community – in the most specific case, about everybody called
together into this wonderful St. Francis Family.
Some people wonder if making a financial pledge or estimate of giving
really matters. Let me assure you emphatically, it most certainly does.
St. Francis obviously is not a wealthy church and it has no endowments.
To secure our ministries and to develop new ones we need the giving of
persons like you – we rely on everybody!
In this particular aspect of stewardship , we focus on our
“treasure” or committing to financially support
God’s work at St. Francis. In this approach to stewardship we
emphasize Proportional Giving – which means committing to
give a specific percentage of income to St. Francis.
While 10% (the Biblical tithe) is a goal, we recognize that you may not
feel called or equipped to tithe right now. Proportional Giving allows
you to systematically work towards the tithe goal by starting at a
lower percentage and increasing my 1% or more each year. (Check out the
“Stewardship

”
link.)

At St.
Francis, we believe that it is our mission to radiate the loving
and transforming power of Jesus Christ to the world around us. Chief
among our values are service, tolerance, and understanding of the
people and events that God has put into our lives.

Families in Formation
Beginning Sunday, Oct. 9, at 9:30 AM in
the Christian Ed Building
This opportunity for Scripture study and
reflection--intended for all ages and for families of 1 or more!--is a home-grown response to
the hunger for Bible study expressed in our parish. The format will vary
with the passage being studied, but the approach will always be one of seeking
to learn together and from each other as we encounter the Bible and the Lord of
the Bible. Contact Nandra Perry for more
information.
